PTU: Police Tactical Unit (2003)
<PTU> stands for Police Tactical Unit, which is specially established for dealing with severe crimes and violence in Hong Kong. The well-known Hong Kong film director, Johnny To, depicts you the night street life in Hong Kong with a dark brush in the film <PTU>.
A Sergeant of Organized Crime and Triad Bureau has lost his revolver after being assaulted by a group of triad members. A PTU team discovered the injured Sergeant, who pleaded the PTU not to report his gun-missing. Throughout the night, the Sergeant searches for his revolver with the help from the PTU team, which is going to lead them to a complex of different crimes, criminals, hostility among criminals themselves and even rivalry within the Police Force.
PTU is often referred to as ‘the Blue Berets’ by locals in reference to the blue (now black) berets of their uniforms. The Regional PTU division is a big company providing an always ready reserve to tackle with threats to public security or natural disasters, like it helps crowd control in big events or demonstrations. On daily basis, the PTU is deployed into streams and teams to patrol and to supplement district resources against crimes in identified crime black spots.
